Bacterial wilt, caused by Ralstonia solanacearum, is a major constraint in brinjal (Solanum melongena L.) production, leading to substantial yield losses in tropical and subtropical regions. Recent advances in genomic mapping have identified resistance loci, such as ERs1, and candidate genes (e.g., NBS-LRR family) that can be harnessed through marker-assisted selection (MAS). However, translating these innovations into widespread farmer adoption requires strong agricultural extension linkages. This paper reviews current genomic mapping efforts for bacterial wilt resistance, explores MAS-based breeding programs, and proposes an integrated extension framework to promote farmer adoption. Case examples from India are presented, emphasizing participatory approaches, ICT tools, and field demonstrations. Recommendations include strengthening research-extension partnerships, enhancing seed distribution systems, and embedding genomic innovations within farmer training programs.
