Submission Files Required for NG Agricultural Sciences

To support a fair and efficient peer review process, NG Agricultural Sciences follows a double-anonymous review system. Authors must therefore submit two separate Word files at the time of manuscript submission.

3. Reference and Citation Style

NG Agricultural Sciences follows the American Psychological Association (APA) style for both in-text citations and the reference list.

Authors must ensure that:

  • in-text citations and references are prepared in APA style
  • all references cited in the text are included in the reference list
  • all references in the reference list are cited in the text
  • DOIs should be provided wherever available
  • reference formatting must be consistent throughout the manuscript

Important style instruction

The expression “et al.” must not be italicized in in-text citations or elsewhere in the manuscript.

Correct:

  • (Nanda et al., 2024)
  • Das et al. (2023) reported that...

Incorrect:

  • (Nanda et al., 2024)
  • Das et al. (2023)

This is a common formatting mistake and should be avoided.

4. Tables and Figures

Tables and figures must be presented clearly, numbered consecutively, and cited in the text in the order in which they appear.

Numbering of Tables

  • Tables must be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals: Table 1, Table 2, Table 3, and so on.
  • The table number must be followed by a period and a concise title.

Correct format:
Table 1. Characteristics of the sampled households
Table 2. Distribution of respondents by age and education level

  • The table title must be placed above the table.
  • Each table should have a clear and self-explanatory title.
  • If any abbreviations, symbols, or notes are used in the table, they should be explained below the table as table notes.
  • Tables should not duplicate information already described fully in the text or shown in figures.

Numbering of Figures

  • Figures must also be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals: Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3, and so on.
  • The figure number must be followed by a period and a concise caption.

Correct format:
Figure 1. Conceptual framework of the study
Figure 2. Trends in crop productivity across the study period

  • The figure title/caption must be placed below the figure.
  • Each figure must have a clear, informative caption so that the figure can be understood independently of the main text as far as possible.
  • Figures should be cited in the text in numerical order.

Placement and Citation in Text

  • Every table and figure must be referred to in the main text.
  • Authors should cite them as Table 1, Figure 1, etc.
  • Tables and figures must appear as close as possible to their first citation in the manuscript.
