Author Guidelines

General Information
Next Gen World Reviews (NGWR) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes high-quality review articles, mini-reviews, scoping/systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and perspectives across sustainability and allied fields (environment, energy, water, food systems, circular economy, public health, policy, and more). The journal provides a platform for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to synthesize evidence, identify gaps, and guide future work.

Use the official NGWR template when preparing your manuscript.

Submission Process

  1. Online Submission: Submit via the NGWR submission system (OJS). Ensure all authors have reviewed and approved the final version.

  2. Manuscript Preparation: Follow the NGWR template and the structure below; ensure completeness and correct formatting.

  3. Cover Letter: Briefly explain the article’s significance, its fit with NGWR, and the review type (narrative, scoping, systematic, meta-analysis, mini-review, perspective).

Manuscript Structure

  1. Title Page
    Title: Concise, informative, and specific to the synthesis.
    Authors: Full names, affiliations, and contact details.
    Corresponding Author: Email and (optional) ORCID.

  2. Abstract (≤250 words)
    • Context, objectives/questions, methods (for evidence synthesis), main findings, implications.
    3–6 keywords reflecting topic, methods, and domain.

  3. Article Highlights
    3–5 bullet points summarizing novel contributions/insights.

  4. Introduction
    • Problem context, rationale for the review, scope and objectives, brief overview of prior syntheses.

  5. Methods (as applicable to review type)
    Search strategy: databases, date ranges, query strings.
    Screening/eligibility: inclusion/exclusion criteria; PRISMA-style flow (for systematic/scoping).
    Data extraction & quality appraisal: tools/criteria; risk-of-bias approach.
    Synthesis approach: qualitative synthesis, thematic analysis, or meta-analysis methods.
    Protocol registration: link to PROSPERO/OSF if registered.

  6. Results / Evidence Base
    • Characteristics of included studies; figures/tables summarizing domains, geographies, methods.
    • For meta-analysis: effect sizes, heterogeneity, sensitivity/robustness checks.

  7. Discussion
    • Interpretation vs. prior literature; implications for research, practice, and policy; limitations.

  8. Conclusions
    • Concise takeaways and future directions.

  9. Author Contributions
    • Specify contributions (e.g., conceptualization; methodology; data curation; analysis; writing—original draft; writing—review & editing; visualization; supervision; funding acquisition).

    • Declare all potential conflicts, or state none.

    • Use a APA style and ensure accuracy and completeness.

Formatting and Style
Font/Size: Times New Roman, 12-pt.
Line Spacing: Double-spaced throughout.
Margins: 1-inch on all sides.
Headings: Use the styles provided in the template.
Figures/Tables: Place near first mention; ensure high resolution and clear labels.
Units/Symbols: Use SI units; define abbreviations on first use.

Submission Checklist
• All authors approve the submission and meet authorship criteria.
• The work is original and not under consideration elsewhere.
• Manuscript follows NGWR template and includes all required sections.
• Data, code, search strings, and protocols (where applicable) are available or properly cited.
• Permissions obtained for third-party content (figures/tables).
Conflicts of interest and funding statements included.

Plagiarism Policy
NGWR maintains high standards of academic integrity. Submissions are screened with tools such as Turnitin or iThenticate; the maximum acceptable similarity is 10% or lower (excluding references/legitimate quotations). Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be returned or rejected; published articles found to contain plagiarism may be investigated and retracted if warranted.

Licensing Policy
Unless otherwise noted, NGWR articles are published under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0). Authors retain copyright; others may download, reuse, and adapt for non-commercial purposes with proper citation. No additional permission is required for non-commercial use.

Use of Generative AI Tools
If language editing or figure generation tools were used, disclose tool name/version and verify accuracy; authors remain fully responsible for all content. AI tools are not authors.
