NG Civil Engineering (NGCE) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing the theory and practice of civil engineering through the publication of high-quality research articles, review papers, technical notes, and case studies. The journal provides a scholarly platform for researchers, academicians, engineers, industry professionals, and policymakers to share innovative findings and applied solutions that address contemporary challenges in the built environment. This broad positioning reflects the journal’s current stated focus on structural engineering, transportation, geotechnical engineering, water resources, environmental engineering, construction management, sustainable urban planning, and emerging digital applications in civil engineering.

NGCE aims to bridge the gap between research and practice by encouraging submissions that are scientifically rigorous, technically sound, and relevant to real-world infrastructure needs. The journal particularly welcomes contributions related to sustainable and resilient infrastructure, smart and climate-responsive engineering systems, and new technologies that enhance planning, design, construction, monitoring, and maintenance in civil engineering.

Through rapid knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary engagement, NGCE seeks to support the global civil engineering community and contribute to the development of safe, efficient, inclusive, and sustainable infrastructure systems for present and future generations.

Aim and Scope

NG Civil Engineering is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal committed to publishing original and significant contributions across the full spectrum of civil engineering and allied interdisciplinary domains. The journal serves as a forum for disseminating advances in engineering science, technology, modelling, design, planning, management, and policy relevant to civil infrastructure and the built environment. Its scope includes, but is not limited to, the following areas: structural engineering; geotechnical engineering; water resources and hydraulic engineering; hydrology and climate-change impacts on infrastructure and water systems; environmental engineering; transportation engineering; pavement engineering and highway design; construction materials and construction management; building information modelling (BIM) and digital twins; remote sensing and GIS applications in civil engineering; sustainable and smart infrastructure; earthquake and disaster resilience; tunnelling and underground construction; coastal and offshore engineering; urban and regional planning; and artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in civil engineering. This scope is drawn from the topics currently listed by the journal on its site.

The journal welcomes submissions in the form of research articles, review articles, short communications, technical notes, case studies, and discussion papers, provided that the work is original, technically robust, clearly presented, and relevant to the journal’s aims. NGCE encourages studies that integrate engineering innovation with sustainability, resilience, digital transformation, and practical implementation in civil systems.

Peer Review Policy

NG Civil Engineering is a peer-reviewed journal. Manuscripts submitted to the journal are assessed for suitability, scope, originality, technical quality, and clarity before being considered for external review. As stated on the journal website, papers that meet the journal’s criteria undergo a double-blind peer review process, with each submission evaluated by qualified reviewers in the relevant subject area. Final editorial decisions are made on the basis of reviewer recommendations, editorial assessment, and the manuscript’s scholarly merit.

The journal is committed to maintaining fairness, confidentiality, academic integrity, and editorial independence throughout the review and publication process, in line with recognized good practice in scholarly publishing. DOAJ also expects journals to follow principles of transparency and best practice in scholarly publishing.

Open Access Policy
