Assessing the role of farm women in agricultural extension is essential for enhancing rural development and food security. This research analysed 120 farm women from Women Interest Groups in the Nuapada District of Odisha during 2023-2024, employing a descriptive design involving structured interviews and focus group discussions to cover aspects like interest, motivation, decision-making, cohesiveness, and extension contact. The results indicated that while the majority showed moderate interest and motivation, they also exhibited low levels of decision-making capacity and cohesiveness, alongside limited extension participation, signaling a need for increased awareness and more engaging strategies. The study concludes that targeted interventions, such as awareness programs and capacity-building initiatives, are necessary to improve participation, which will be instrumental in advancing agricultural productivity and sustainable rural development.
