Aims & Scope
Environment and Energy Informatics is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal dedicated to publishing original research, review articles, short communications, and case-based scholarly contributions in the interdisciplinary fields of environmental informatics, energy informatics, and digital technologies for sustainable development. The journal aims to advance scientific understanding and practical innovation in the use of data, computation, modelling, and intelligent systems to address environmental and energy challenges at multiple scales.
The journal provides a platform for the dissemination of high-quality research that contributes to the monitoring, analysis, optimization, and management of environmental and energy systems. It welcomes interdisciplinary studies that connect environmental science, energy systems, computer science, data analytics, engineering, geospatial technologies, and policy dimensions relevant to sustainability and resilience.
Environment and Energy Informatics seeks submissions that offer clear scientific contribution, methodological rigor, and relevance to contemporary challenges in environmental sustainability, energy transitions, climate resilience, and technology-enabled decision-making at local, regional, national, and global levels.
The journal publishes work in, but is not limited to, the following areas:
Environmental informatics and ecological data systems
Energy informatics and smart energy management
Climate data analytics, climate modelling, and resilience assessment
Renewable energy systems, forecasting, and optimization
Smart grids, energy efficiency, and intelligent power systems
Geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, and spatial analytics
Internet of Things, sensor networks, and environmental monitoring systems
Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning applications in environment and energy
Simulation, modelling, and decision-support systems
Carbon accounting, emissions modelling, and sustainability assessment
Water, air, soil, and waste informatics
Urban environmental systems and smart infrastructure
Resource management, circular economy analytics, and sustainable planning
Environmental risk assessment, disaster informatics, and early warning systems
Policy informatics and data-driven governance for environment and energy
The journal particularly encourages manuscripts that:
address emerging issues in environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and energy transition;
demonstrate sound experimental, computational, analytical, modelling, or field-based methodology;
integrate data science, artificial intelligence, informatics, or digital systems with real-world environmental and energy applications;
contribute interdisciplinary insights across environmental, energy, and information sciences; and
offer regional or sector-specific evidence with broader scientific, technological, or policy significance.
Manuscripts that are purely descriptive, lack scientific rigor, or fall outside the scholarly scope of environment, energy, and informatics will not be considered.
