Next Gen Soil and Environmental Research is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge of soils, terrestrial environments, and their interactions with agricultural, ecological, climatic, and anthropogenic systems.

The journal publishes original research articles, review articles, short communications, methodological studies, and other scholarly contributions addressing fundamental and applied aspects of soil and environmental research. Particular emphasis is placed on research that contributes to sustainable soil management, environmental protection, climate resilience, restoration of degraded ecosystems, pollution mitigation, and sustainable use of natural resources.

Aim and Scope

Next Gen Soil and Environmental Research aims to provide an international platform for researchers, academicians, environmental professionals, practitioners, and policymakers to communicate high-quality scientific findings and emerging approaches in soil and environmental sciences.

The journal encourages interdisciplinary research connecting soil processes with agriculture, water, climate, ecosystems, land management, pollution, and environmental sustainability.

The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to:

  • Soil physics, soil chemistry, and soil biology

  • Soil fertility and plant nutrition

  • Soil microbiology and microbial ecology

  • Soil organic matter and carbon dynamics

  • Soil health and soil quality assessment

  • Soil genesis, classification, survey, and mapping

  • Soil mineralogy and biogeochemistry

  • Soil–plant–water relationships

  • Nutrient cycling and nutrient-use efficiency

  • Soil erosion and conservation

  • Land degradation, desertification, and restoration

  • Soil salinity, sodicity, and acidity

  • Problem soils and their management

  • Soil and water pollution

  • Heavy metals and emerging contaminants

  • Pesticide fate and environmental behaviour

  • Waste management and resource recovery

  • Bioremediation and phytoremediation

  • Environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology

  • Environmental monitoring and assessment

  • Water quality and wastewater management

  • Groundwater and surface-water contamination

  • Climate change and soil processes

  • Soil carbon sequestration and greenhouse-gas emissions

  • Climate-smart soil and land management

  • Agroecology and sustainable land-use systems

  • Biodiversity and ecosystem functioning
