Abstract

Indian forests contain diverse Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) with medicinal plants as the prime element, which have traditionally provided health solutions since ancient times. The documented plant species reach 2,500 in number, which provide therapeutic benefits that support disease treatments and preventive healthcare initiatives. The article examines Indian forest medicinal plants along with their traditional across to modern applications combined with relevant sustainable collecting techniques. These plants create major possibilities to support sustainable livelihoods through amalgamating traditional knowledge bases with present-day scientific findings. This article underlines the requirement to protect these important resources alongside community contribution, which will safeguard their availability throughout the coming generations.
